Join Omer Shakil and learn how you can get something up and running today! Omer will talk about development over the Google App Engine with a focus on mastering its datastore and briefly introduce Google Web Toolkit. In case you’re lost, it’s okay!! You don’t need to have any prior knowledge of these tools however knowledge of programming fundamentals is expected.Omer Shakil has been working as a Software Engineer at Google since 2006. He did his bachelors from LUMS and was awarded a gold medal for being the best student in Computer Science. Omer went on to do his Masters in Distributed Systems from The University of Texas at Austin. Omer has won many coding competitions as a student: IEEE Week 03 Speed Programming Competition (Individual), Punjab Tech 03 On-Spot Programming Competition (Individual), SOFTEC 04 Dynamic Programming competition (Team) and AMD Design Contest Challenge (Team). Omer has been very active in promoting Google in Pakistan. He took the initiative to conduct the first ever recruiting event from Pakistan back in 2007, and held tech talks ever since. This year he is continuing the series with a workshop on Web Apps.
